Puppy Poll!

Well, our puppy was born last Sunday! For those who don't know we did decide on a Golden Retriever. I know, we said we were looking at a small breed, but everything we looked at just didn't seem to fit our family, especially with having small children. A Golden looks to be a great breed in every way, except the shedding which for those who know me, is going to be a challenge. I am a little obsessive compulsive about my house being clean, so I'm not quite sure how I will handle that. I will figure it out I'm sure :) The pros outwiegh the cons!

Here is a picture of the litter, we are waiting for recent pics before we choose one, but seen as Becky's kitty name poll was so successful I wanted to get everyone involved in our puppy! Any ideas are appreciated, although, before David even suggests it, we are ruling out Beast!

We thought it best to name her before she gets here, otherwise, left up to the boys you never know what it may end up with!! I like Gracie, Jasen is ok with that too, but would like to name it after a tool, go figure!!! Jaden has said he likes the name Madalee, we are open to other suggestions!! Let us know :)

So you are definitely getting a female dog eh? I tend to like short "cute" names (don't laugh Beck ;), so Madie, Roxie or Heidi would be a few. Personally, I dislike names like "Dutchess" or "Princess" or those type of dog names. Sadie would be another one I like. Just some ideas to get this poll rolling!

So....are you going to share the "cute" name thing with us? ;)

Yes, I like Sadie, and if we went with Jaden's suggestion of Madalee, then it would get shortened to Madie I'm sure. We will NOT be going with the typical "dog names" so you can rest assured we won't name her princess!! Thanks for the input :)

Well, I like some of those cute names, too, Derek, so I won't laugh. :) Sadie is good, I think that's my vote! And Helen, since Frank was so disappointed when I didn't name my cat after him, it might brighten his personality if you name your dog Frankette! It would be like giving her a family name.

How about Binga! She can be Bingo's other girlfriend! Our retreiver was named Misa. (Meesa). About the fur issue, you and David should trade dogs, then the fur would match the carpet better!

My suggestions are Callie and Molly. I do like Sadie and Gracie as well.

My vote is to have a few good names picked out, but don't rule out that once you actually see her and interact, something totally different might be more fitting!
I have to say though, coming up with "tool" names can be pretty fun!! Take Chassie for instance; sounds like a girl name. . .it's the framework and running gear in a vehicle (technically spelled chassis)! :)
Here's a top 20 list

What tool names does Jasen like? Most tools sound like boy names to me. -Router, Mortiser, Bolt, Lathe, Sander, Dust Collector....

I agree with you on the tool names, if we were having a boy it would be "Decker" (Black & Decker). He did suggest "Makita" for a girl, that was nixed!! Unless we come up with a really cute girlie "tool" name, we are going to have to bench the idea for another dog down the road.

I like when dogs are named after places or things - not with people names...

Like my dog Shylo she is named after Shiloh in the Bible - it is a place! Kenai is named after another place. Also, you have to give this dog a papered name the goes with her call name. For example my mom named one of her puppies Shiloh's Scenic Cruiser and his call name is Cruiser. Or another example is Jenn and David's dog, her papered name is Shiloh's Great Downunder and her call name is Sydney. So get creative! I do kind of like the name Chassie is sounds like Lassie and it goes with Jasen's tool theme! :)

I also like the name David Savalla came up with - Repent. That way whenever Jasen calls the dog he gets to yell REPENT and all the neighbors will hear! And you boys can run around screaming, REPENT COME REPENT!!!!!!! hahaha

David's vote is for beast or grump, but since those have already been nixed...I like Sadie. Can't wait to meet her!

With your household, I would call her "Survivor" and hope for the best!

sixwickerts said...

Thanks Chris!!! Survivor just jumped to the top of Jasen's list.....not too feminine though!

Calli & Sadie are probably on top of the list right now...Calli being a little in the lead as far as the boys go. We are trying to be subtle about asking them what names they like for when we "someday" get a dog!!

So here's my question...If you do choose the name "Sadie," does that make me the Dogfather???!!! I could make a deal you couldn't refuse...LOL

Derek,

Being the "dogfather" brings with it a huge responsibility, it means that you would have to be available to dog sit whenever needed, feed, walk, and generally spoil her in the way I'm sure she will be accustomed. Also,if anything were to happen to us you would have to be willing to step into our place and raise her......of course, she also comes with four children :) Now, are you up to the challenge?
