Fish Trivia

So.......for all you avid fisherman & women out there, I have a quiz..........Do you know what kind of fish these are?

Jasen & Jeremy were gone all day Salmon fishing and they only caught 2 Coho. Now, Jasen took the boys to do some REAL fishing off the dock tonight for one hour, and they caught 6 of these mystery fish! Nobody at the dock knew what they were, Becky's guess was Dolly Varden, Jasen also thought some kind of trout.

So, let's hear it!!

Dolly Varden have orange spots, maybe rainbow? Except there's more belly than a rainbow. Ling cod-NOT! I have no idea. How about asking Scott Walker?

Ted, we ate them tonight for dinner, yum yum!!!

Scott says it is not a trout. It has three dorsal fins and it is either a gray or Pacific cod, he'll check his fish books to make certain.

The boys look so happy with their fish. When they ate them, they must have said to themselves, "I am a good hunter."

These are Walleye Pollock or Alaska Pollock according to Alaska Fisheries Science Center. You can look on line under Walleye Pollock and you will see pictures that will verify what they are. They are a type of Cod fish and they make up 40% of the global whitefish production. They tasted just like regular cod only a little bit softer texture. Jaden had seconds!

NEW POST NEW POST NEW POST!!!!!!! What...it's not like you have four kids or anything to keep you busy!!!! Oh wait....you have five(Jasen)...never mind...I understand.

Oh and you would know what its like to have four children. Hi Ted I see how you are:) one day I will remind you of your too grown up attitude. Kids love to fish it is fun! You need to come up here and try it and eat real fish not the store bought processed stuff you have tried. No chemicals added just fresh fish deep fried with french fries is hard to beat! Another note is that there is no bag limit or size limit on this fish according to the regulations because it is not a game fish or on the registered list. If I had time I would stock up for the winter because it is free. It takes a while to clean this type of fish but for its size generally 11-20 inches there is alot of meat on it. I have some in the freezer for you Ted, if I can make it to your wedding I could bring you some real fish caught in Alaska!

Dear Jasen... I love you much, and respect you greatly. HOWEVER...keep your stinkie "fresh" fish. :o) ha ha Gotta remember bro...I grew up in the woods where people hunted and fished. I have had "fresh" fish....and it just isn't for me. Kind of like chocolate...I've had the best of the best and the worst of the worst...and I don't like ANY OF IT!!! :o) Just not my "THANG" ha ha
